Chapter 3: Learning the Code

In barely 4 years, Einon transformed from what was said by
many to be "a winey snot nosed git" to what was acknowledged by all as the
growing heir to the throne. In the past his mother had taught him to read and write
and speak in Latin and Norman. Under Bowen's instruction he learned battle
tactics and the techniques of leading an army, he learned to skin a deer and
how to start a fire to safely cook it over. Only after he could really lift a

This chapter is
about Kara. Kara was a very wily little girl, her face was often grubby with

was far from being a village of wealth or prosperity. The peasants paid half of
